So why a blog about remodeling homes?
Change, its all about change.
I suppose my facination with transforming things started somewhere back in my childhood (doesn’t everything stem from our childhood?). Through my lifetime I have built things (and then RE-built things), colored things (my poor parents), re-arranged things (my poor husband), and somehow find a way to put my own personal spin on things. It’s just what I do.
I have a friend (a previous neighbor) who still teases me about when she came over to my house for a visit, and there I was, hacking away at a wall with a sledgehammer. When she asked me when I had decided to take out a wall I told her “this morning!” When she asked me why I was taking it down, I think I said something like, “because I just didn’t like it” (needless to say, it was quite a surprise for my husband!) Sometimes you just have to go with your gut. We ended up turning an ugly, ill-fitting galley kitchen into a beautiful space that opened up into the dining room.
Ever since that first home, I have become a remodeling junkie. I love digging my hands in and making things different. At times it is back-breaking work, but when you’re finished you can step back and say “Wow, I did that!” It must be one of the reasons I ended up becoming a real estate broker; I actually LIKE going into other people’s homes just so I can see what they’ve done and gather new ideas (or find out what I shouldn’t do to my home).
Which led me to creating this blog. If I like seeing what other folks do to there homes, then wouldn’t other people like that too? Admit it, I KNOW you’re out there!
OR maybe you just want to share your remodeling journey with the rest of the world. So here is your chance. Send me your home remodeling triumphs (or your catastrophes), the products you like, the products you hate, and maybe even a tradesperson or two that did great (or less than desireable) work for you.
